From June 1, 2008 through September 16, 2008, we will be holding a photo contest consisting of ten different categories. There will be no limit on the number of images you shoot to acquire your final image, but only one print may be entered per category. You may submit prints taken either with a digital or film camera. The rules to govern the prints and competition are listed at the end of this article.
The subjects will be listed in the June bulletin. You will have the entire months of June, July, August, and through the 16th of September to record your images of each subject. This year you get an extra month to find photograph for the contest. One 4 x 6 image per category will need to be submitted at our September 16th meeting. Each entry will need to have your name and the category shown on the back of the photo. At the September 16th meeting, all images will be placed into their respective categories and judged by all members of the camera club. The photo receiving the most votes in each category will be placed into the final round against all other categories. Again the camera club members will vote for their favorite image. There will be cash awards for 1st (30% of entry money), 2nd (20% of entry money), and 3rd Place (10% of entry money). There will not be cash awards for the winners of each category. The camera club will get the remaining 40% of the entry money. The more entries, the more money, so encourage your fellow members to join the fun. We have established a $5.00 entry fee for this contest which is payable up until check-in on September 16th. This will provide revenue for the winning photos as well as serve as a fund raiser for the Lincoln Camera Club.
Please note: Please have your prints ready to be checked in no later than 7:00 P.M. Once judging starts no entries will be accepted.
Rules:
This contest is open to Camera Club Members and their family.
Photos must be taken between June 1, 2008 and September 16, 2008.
Only one print may be submitted per category.
All prints submitted must be 4” x 6”.
Submissions may be from digital format or film.
Prints may be either black and white or color.
Images may be converted to grayscale from either film or digital.
Digital images may not be manipulated other than brightness and contrast which is available on film processing as well.
The entry fee is $5.00 payable anytime up to “check in” on September 16th. Entry fee is non-refundable.
The entry fee will be split 60-40%. 60% of the entry fee will be used as prize money, and 40% will go to the club.
We will have a tie breaker if necessary for the three top awards. Only the Summer 2008 Photo Contest Committee will vote in the tie breaker.
All images can be natural or set up as still life.
Only one image may be submitted per category by each participant.
If money is not received, prints will not be accepted.
Categories (subjects) will be announced in the June bulletin.
Everyone is “on their honor” to abide by the rules.
