Yvonne's Message for March |
Hi, All!
Busy Times! Fun Times!
As I write, I am anticipating attending our workshop on Saturday. I’m sure that after hearing Jeff Morgan, we will all come away with more photo skills than we now possess! We owe a debt of gratitude to Leland Osten and his committee, Glen Emswiler, Donna Gustafson and Dennis Gaibler, for all the work they have done in the last several months, getting this high-quality workshop organized and ready for presentation. They have our appreciation!
I am inclined to believe this is the year of “Weather”! At the February meeting, we heard a very interesting talk by Ken Dewey about the Severe Weather Symposium we are participating in at the end of March. This will be a fun day, with our photography show and the Kid’s Photo Contest, and letting others know about our club. What a great time to display our expertise and share it with the public! Some of our members have had some harrowing times with our weather, Clark and Karen Springman encountered traffic-stopping icy weather on their return from Chicago, Linda Graham traveled in ice and blizzard conditions on her trip to Texas recently. Dennis Zabel, however, had a unique experience with weather, when he happened to be at the Grand Canyon at the right time to experience “a ‘thunder snow storm’ come charging up the canyon and then crawl up over the north rim”. Sounds as though he enjoyed winter in the great Southwest. Rich and Sue Stetina are planning a visit to Hawaii, and Bob and Jean Hilsabeck are visiting in Florida, … hope they don’t get snowed in there! Good news prevails, however, since our first snow this year was on Nov. 21st, according to my Dad’s theory, we will have 21 rabbit-tracking snows this winter. We have only 4 to go in the three weeks before spring arrives! It is time we were thinking about how we plan to celebrate our 75th Anniversary! Not every organization survives 75 years with as much interest and enthusiasm as ours has! We would like to know how you would like to celebrate! A group photo tour to Hawaii? A trip to the Nine Mile Prairie? Shall we have a Club Party? Or shall we share our celebrating with the public? What is your suggestion? It was interesting to note that the Lincoln Orchid Society has made arrangements with Julie Albrecht to give a presentation on floral photography for their July meeting. Nice to see our members sharing their expertise with other groups! Hope to see you at Competition Night, Thursday, March 6th and again, at our General Meeting, Tuesday, March 18th, both at Gere Library! Let’s all find out how Jim Budka gets all his great photos! See You There! Yvonne |
