Yvonne's Message for February |
Dear LCC Members:
A Celebration is in Order! Our esteemed Bulletin Editor, Jim Atkins, has determined that the year 2008 is the 75th Anniversary Year for The Lincoln Camera Club, having been organized in 1933. Not only should we celebrate, we should let the world know we are celebrating! What an opportunity to get the word out about the great skills and activities of our organization!
It is also an opportunity to join in the fun of our club! I have found the more one becomes involved, the more personal enjoyment there is to be gained! This is the time to volunteer a couple hours of your time toward your personal satisfaction.
One of those great activities is the Annual Workshop coming up on February 29th and March 1st. Leland Osten and his committee have outdone their previous record by providing another outstanding workshop. “Photography in a Digital World” will be presented by Photographer Jeff Morgan of Minneapolis. Jeff is a native of Wales and has lived in the United States for over 15 years. Come join us to learn to tweak your techniques and turn your images into stunning photographs! Register soon at SEC (437-2712) as Leland says ‘first come, first served’!
Another exciting event this spring will be our participation in the Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium being offered by the School of Natural Resources, UNL, on March 29th. This event will be held at Hardin Hall, 33rd and Holdrege, previously known as the Center for Continuing Education. We are planning a large display of natural resources photographs by members of The Lincoln Camera Club, and a photo contest for youngsters 17 years old and younger. and several other activities. Please plan to bring many of your photos, with your identification visible, to be displayed at this well-attended function. Last year’s attendance was over 4,000 people, so plan to become involved. Let’s make this a memorable part of our 75th anniversary!
However, these outstanding events cannot overshadow our regular activities! Our regular competition judging night will be held at Gere Library on Thursday night, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. Remember, all members are welcome to attend the judging which is a very interesting experience. Join us to see whether you agree with the judges.
Our regular Camera Club meeting will be held at Gere Library on Tuesday evening, February 19th at 7:00 p.m.
The Board members are all open to your suggestions for ways of observing our anniversary year, so let us know your ideas! Let’s Celebrate!
