Yvonne's Message for December
Season’s Greetings to All LCC:

Our Club is certainly a fun and interesting place to be!  November has been an exciting month and December promises more fun activities!
REMEMBER THESE DATES! SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2nd – Spring Creek Prairie Open House
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 18th – Holiday Dinner, The Knolls

On Sunday afternoon, December 2nd, The Spring Creek Prairie Open house will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Audubon Society Spring Creek Prairie which is about 5 miles south of Denton on Hwy. 103. This will be an opportunity for us to display our photographic skills again.  We will have the display table set up, displaying our photos and we will be talking with the public about our club.  We will also have a slide show to enhance our presentation.

I would encourage all members who possibly can, to stop by the display to show support of our club.  Personal appearance by our members makes a positive impression on prospective members.  Our display at the Lincoln Orchid Society Show resulted in three visitors at our November General Meeting.  We need this interest to benefit our group and to keep it growing!

It would be very helpful to have more member’s photos on display!  For this display, we will need photos of nature in 8x10 or 5x7 sizes.  I am anticipating an identification system for the photos on display, so your work will receive the proper credits.  Please contact Leann Lord at 466.8228, or call me at 488.3126 for arrangements to receive your photos.

The Holiday Dinner will be held at The Knolls on Tuesday evening, December 18th, at 6:00 p.m.    The theme for the night will be Food, Friends and Fun!  We will have a social time and about 6:30 the buffet will be our focus.  The Knolls is well known for its fantastic buffet, seconds, and then go back for dessert!  The tab will be $18.50 per person, payable in advance to Karen Harris, 8445 Easton Circle, Lincoln, 68520.  Please have your reservation to her by Monday, December 17th so we can give The Knolls an attendance count.

After enjoying the delicious food, we will be entertained by Jeff Beiermann, a staff photographer for the Omaha World-Herald who plans to talk about news photography with an emphasis on sports and  he may be bringing some of the "BIG" lenses with him.

November has been a fun month for our club!  On the 13th, we judged the club’s photos, with an increase in the number of photos entered in our competition.  You will find results elsewhere in The Bulletin.  Our judging of photos is such an educational and intriguing part of our activities!  Listening to the comments by the judges while viewing the photos helps one to see the photo from a different viewpoint.  A most valuable photo experience!  All members are encouraged to attend the judging sessions and be willing to serve as a judge when asked.  Judging will be done on the first Tuesday of each month, beginning in January 2008.

The Lincoln Orchid Show was held the 10th and 11th of November at the Back to the Bible facility.  Competition with Husker Football was tough, though some of our members enjoyed the opportunity for some excellent photography.  Three photographers who stopped at our display table attended our general meeting on the 20th.  Our thanks go to Elaine Bertrand, Orchid Society Show Chairman, and all who helped to make this event a success.

Last, but far from least in November, was our General Meeting, which was held at Eiseley Library on the 20th.  After we all found the way there, we spent a fascinating evening viewing and judging photographs from RBCC in Lincoln, England.  The expertise of some avid photographers plus the scenery of such a beautiful country afforded us all a most enjoyable evening.  Results of this judging will also be found elsewhere in The Bulletin.  Our congratulations and appreciation to RBCC members for some excellent photography!

Our best wishes to all for a happy, blessed Holiday!  See you on the 2nd and the 18th!

Yvonne
