Yvonne's Message for September |
To Our LCC Members:
The summer is rapidly drawing to a close. It seems like the May Salon was just last week! Since then we have accomplished a lot!
Gayle Mittan arranged the tour of Morrill Hall on August 12th, which was during the HOT weather and a very busy time. I’m sure, if you went, you were well rewarded.
The Summer Photo Contest at the August 21st meeting was a success again this year. You will find the results of that competition elsewhere in The Bulletin. Congratulations to all the winners and, a Great Job, Glen Emswiler! Let’s give the winners a run for the money next year!
“Wild Wednesdays at the Zoo” ended with the month of August. Leann Lord made a nice improvement on our display there, which will be put to good use other places during the year. We now have several new members from contacts made by our friendly, out-going reps each Wednesday. Hopefully more people who showed interest in our group will be joining as the summer ‘busy-ness’ winds down. We WELCOME all our new members and hope they will enjoy our club.
The State Fair has been another good fair, with many of our members participating in the competition and making a very good showing. My heartfelt thanks to all who made the exhibit possible again this year by your endless help and support! The kudos we have received about improvements there are all yours! It could not have improved without you!
However, the fun has just begun! We had a couple surveys recently, in our attempt to provide you with programs and workshops you desire. Results will be showing up soon! Leland Osten is working diligently on providing an all-day workshop you will enjoy as much or more than the one we attended last year.
The workshops Luis Peon Casanova has offered to conduct are nearing fruition and will begin soon. He is utilizing the survey in planning the subjects YOU want! Watch the website for information, and the subjects and dates will be announced at our meetings.
Gayle Mittan has made plans for an all-day photo op to Nebraska City for the Applejack Festival on Sunday, September 16th. I’m sure there are several of us who are willing to share rides to enjoy the day, not only by joining the festivities, but by taking advantage of the venue for more photos! Let’s all let Gayle know we appreciate her efforts to make these arrangements by participating in this jaunt! I’m ready! Even with my lowly little ‘point and shoot’!
Our Competition night will be this Tuesday, September 11th. Darlene Duvall tells me “the prints are flowing in”! Then, on Tuesday, September 18th, we will have our General Meeting, at 7:00 at Gere Library, as usual, with the program provided by Randy Hampton from Rockbrook Camera. Linda Graham has many other programs lined up for us and has been doing a great job finding great evenings for us. Randy would like for us to bring our cameras, so I know it will be a very worthwhile meeting!
John Peterson and Jim Atkins are working hard to keep us informed of all the events available, so be sure to check often The Bulletin as well as our website for more of ‘what’s happening’! More items of interest to all will be discussed at the next regular meeting!
See you all at the meeting!
