The 2007 Lincoln Camera Club year has started off with two exotic expeditions to Africa, some thoroughly enjoyable visits to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, and many good conversations with many of our very interesting members! For those of you who missed them, I’m sorry you did, as the expeditions to Africa were so well presented, I’m ready to go there in person. We have Claudius Shoniwa to thank for arranging a program by Isaak Kinyanjui from Kenya, and Darrell Watts for sharing the visit he and Lois made to Namibia. We saw how Pro Show Gold can be used…. And there’s more to come! Our Club has been invited again this year, to provide judges for the Weeping Water Photography Contest to be held in conjunction with the Weeping Water Festival. Judging will be held at the Legion Club in Weeping Water at 6:oo p.m. on Friday, June 29th.
Gayle Mittan is busy making preparations for some outings to be enjoyed by our members who are looking for some photo ops, so grab your camera and be ready to go. Feel free to let us know where you would like to go! Be sure to check out the library table at the next meeting! Antique and used book dealer friends of Clark and Karen Springman have donated several photography books to our club! They are available for check-out on the honor system… take them and read them, and bring them back for the next person. Information on composition, focus, exposure, color balance, etc. stays the same, regardless of the equipment one is using. Wild Wednesdays at the Zoo will be an ongoing opportunity to provide information about the Lincoln Camera Club for budding photographers that enjoy getting the animals in their lens. Leann and Jim Lord have had our information available to the public. However, they will be unable to continue for a while, as Jim suffered a light stroke. He has been in St. Elizabeth Hospital, and has just transferred to Madonna for rehabilitation. Let’s stop in to say “Hi!” and send him a card to let him know we miss him! We do need to have some samples of our expertise to display on the table. How better to promote our club than with some actual evidence? Please bring a few of your photographs of animals that we can use for this display! I will collect them at the July meeting or the Board meeting and see that they get displayed. Or drop them off at my home! The Summer 4x6 Competition is in progress. This is a fun opportunity to compare your ‘lucky shot’ with those of the rest of us. Clark Springman is working to get the Photo Contest at the Zoo implemented. See details elsewhere in The Bulletin. Our next meeting will be at Gere Library, at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 17th. Our new Program Chairman, Linda Graham, is working hard to bring us an excellent program! New and exciting things are in the future! Watch the Website for details. Yvonne Nelson |
