Clarks Message for October |
Wow! Things are really happening with your camera club!
We are getting invited to participate in more and more events, like the Lincoln Children's Zoo, the Spring Creek Prairie open house and the upcoming Orchid Show. We have new members signing up every month. We are having some great field trips, like this month's trip to Crete. And, we have a new committee, Photo Workshop, in progress.
What is most exciting to me is the number of people who are participating in these projects. Leland Osten, Rick and Sue Stetina, Leann Lord, Dennis Zabel and many others are taking a real interest in the club. That's what makes it great! And, when everyone pitches in, there are no hard jobs!
If you are not participating in the events, such as the meetings (about half of you never seem to make it), the field trips (participation is meager, considering the wonderful trips that Donna Gustafson lines up), the new digital competitions (very few of you participated), and the special events, like Spring Creek Prairie open house, the State Fair seniors event, the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging Festival, and the others, you are missing out on the real fun of the club, which is doing things together that are related to photography.
There's more to the camera club than the meetings (although they are important to keep up to date on what is going on with the club, and learn more about your craft). Competitions help you take more, and thus, better pictures. Field trips give you an opportunity to photograph subjects that you might not otherwise encounter (and a chance to watch your fellow photographers work, and maybe learn something from them). Special events provide a great meeting place where you can talk to each other, and to member prospects about your favorite subject, photography, as well as show your pride in your organization.
All of the officers, committee chairpersons, and committee members are working hard to try to produce the type of club that you have indicated you want. I think they have done a great job of it; now all that remains is for you to take advantage of these resources.
I think if you asked any one of these people, they would tell you that they are having a fun time participating in the Lincoln Camera Club. Why don't you join them?
See you in Crete?
