Meeting Program
|
In February we will be treated to a DVD about the Kolb Brothers, Grand Canyon pioneers. Ellsworth and Emery Kolb came to Arizona looking for adventure. They found it at the Grand Canyon. In 1903, they set up the Canyon's first photography business in a shack that clung precariously to the rim. Their colorful exploits included a grueling thousand mile trip down the Colorado River to produce the first motion pictures of the Canyon's spectacular wilderness. For 75 years they created a remarkable visual history of the Canyon that still draws visitors to the Kolb Studio, which is now listed in the National Historic Register. Their story - a grand adventure that spanned nearly a century --unfolds through their photographs and film.
Also at this meeting we will have a chance to view some of the pictures that have been entered in our monthly competition nights and to critique shots sent in by members. |
